We visited Congaree National Park again this past weekend and stayed at their Longleaf primitive campground area. I set up our tents, while Darren made the fire. We cooked steaks and corn on the cob, which turned out to be delicious.
We were up early and hiked the River Trail (10 miles) on Saturday morning. The hike starts off on an elevated broadwalk, then a wooden walkway, and then turns into a narrow (but well marked) trail to the Congaree River. I would assume that during the rainy season, some parts of this trail are not accessible. There were a lot of blow downs to go around, but it was a good flat trail. We saw three deer and one wild hog along the way. Always an adventure!!
